Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
With limited supervision, this advanced level position is responsible for execution of non-routine inspection activities
Accountabilities include site manager for Mechanical Integrity (MI) software -- Plant Condition Monitoring System (PCMS), reporting MI Key Performance Indicators (KPI), Inspection planning, maintenance of Inspection Test Plans and other Inspection related documents, coordinating 3rd party engineering support, development and maintenance of Inspection Procedures.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
•High school diploma or GED equivalent required
•Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical training required
•Must be current in API 510, 570. Should be familiar with API 579, 581 and other recommended practices referenced within those documents.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
•15+ years relevant and recent industrial/refinery experience required
•5+ years in mechanical inspection required
•Thorough understanding and working knowledge of refinery maintenance procedures, including safety procedures involving repair and maintenance of equipment, required
•Working knowledge of AutoCAD software, API Standards and ASME, ANSI Codes, PCMS required
•Must be able to operate NDT equipment, UT, PT, MT and VT and interpret Radiographic Film
•Must be able to perform Inspections on Piping, Pressure Vessels and Tanks
•Must be able to work in a plant environment involving climbing, confined spaces, etc.
•Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints
•Ability to adjust schedule to meet business demands and address unexpected issues
•History of supervising other Inspectors and directing contract inspection activities
•Fluent in English, oral and written required
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
•Coordinate the daily activities of direct and contract employees with respect to implementing the Mechanical Integrity Program
•Review inspection reports and coordinate updates to inspection Test Plans
•Review and approve revisions to MI related specifications from Equity Engineering
•Develop and present monthly KPSs to Senior Plant Management
•Coordinate Fitness-for-Service evaluations with 3rd party engineering companies
•Work with Operations, Tech Services and Reliability to develop Integrity Operating Windows
•Maintain Corrosion Control Diagrams
•Review MOCs to evaluate proposed systems changes with respect to Mechanical Integrity
•Participate in Project development for systems such as Water Wash Systems, metallurgy upgrades, etc.
•Manage and maintain AutoCAD inspection isometrics
EXPECTED RESULTS
•Determine serviceability of equipment as to safe, continued operation for process reliability and to inspect repairs
•Develop inspection plans of the refinery piping and equipment to minimize unpredictable failures
•Adherence to all company policies and procedures
•Development of inspectors with regard to career objectives and departmental goals
