Director, Commercial Applications
The Commercial Applications Director will play a leadership role in managing the strategy, day-to-day operations, and service delivery for the commercial functions. Responsible to drive innovative strategies to improve business performance and manage risk. The Director will be a primary interface for business users in commercial operation, structuring and planning engagements, developing relationships, and managing delivery teams. Typical engagements include developing an application roadmap, providing subject matter expertise in how to best leverage the capabilities within RightAngle, and managing the legacy Petroman billing system. He/She will be responsible for directing and managing all aspects of Energy Trading Risk Management functions and corresponding integration and business processes. The individual will be the primary liaison between business stakeholders and IT to ensure all requests and business expectations are managed, prioritized, planned, communicated, and met.
Strong written and verbal communications skills are required so the individual is able to work across organizational boundaries and gain support from key stakeholders. The individual will manage and coordinate the team on analysis, design and implement incident and problem resolution, enhancements, and releases. The individual will serve as mentor and share best practices with other members of the team, hold others accountable to established performance levels as well as train team in the necessary skills (technical and non-technical) needed to succeed and advance.
Collaboration with peers on a daily basis to implement structured common practices, manage quality against delivery metrics, and promote a common delivery approach across IT. A knowledge of SOX controls and application security requirements is beneficial.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences, Information Systems, Finance/Accounting, or other related technical or business discipline required; or demonstrated technical proficiency may be substituted for education requirements.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 15-20 years of hands-on ETRM experience, including RightAngle functional and architecture, business design methodology and implementation
- 15+ years of experience in energy and financial trade capture system, trade logistics, settlement and accounting system, risk valuation and risk control management
- 15+ years of experience with ETRM management and support, including RightAngle desired
- 15+ years of experience desired developing solutions with Developer tools in .NET, Java, PL SQL, some Power Builder desired
- 12+ years of experience in management/project management and proficiency leading project teams
- Industry experience in energy and/or commodities trading and risk management technologies, operations, and processes, as well as, delivering full lifecycle systems implementation in energy trading environment
- Strong commodity exposure including crude oil, NGL, refined products, and derivatives
- Strong functional and cross functional business knowledge around ETRM and commercial applications
- Ability to manage creation of development specifications ensuring they meet user and business requirements
- Experience in configuring and deploying ETRM functionality including strategies, risk management, invoicing, primary and secondary costs, tax applications, planning, scheduling, actualization, financial and physical commodities including both energy and agricultural products, multiple modes of transportation, and simple and complex pricing formulas
- Experience with ETRM reporting including inventory management, netback, risk, and credit
- Ability to readily comprehend business expectations that affect the current enterprise architecture and future strategy
- Display competencies in incident management, problem management, change management and service requests and documentation; demonstrates leadership ability to develop and propose overall strategy, architecture, and process improvements
- Ability to establish performance levels to achieve individual, team and departmental goals
- Ability to lead, direct and supervise team members and outsourced vendors
- Ability to identify the automation opportunity to improve the operation process, and take initiative to drive the delivery of IT solution to business stake holders
- Ability to influence and collaborate the effort within IT to deliver the solution to business.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Lead planning, analysis, design, and implementation of RightAngle related system solutions, including break-fix and enhancements
- Lead/facilitate analysis and implementation of new deal type, trade structure and business modeling in RA system, solutioning for deal capture, logistics setup, processes, cross functional data flow and timing impact
- Work closely with the front, mid, back office to understand business needs, in order to develop IT strategy, and propose solution options including advice on design, implementation, tools, scalability, system performance, dependencies
- Serve as "hands-on" escalation point to identify and suggest approaches to resolve RightAngle related issues
- Execute market know-how, industry, and technology trends, to enhance supportability of RightAngle and associated solution and on-going business processes and requirements
- Provide direct oversight of all vendors support and ensures incident resolutions and problems are correctly identified with the proposed final solution consistent with the end users' project requirements
- Review project estimates and assess impact of project risks
- Set standards and project processes for support team and mentor team members
- Assist in analysis, design, modeling, testing and implementation activities by providing guidance and recommendations for process enhancements and efficiencies
- Perform analysis of present systems and operations; documents existing procedures and operating methods; define requested data requirements, analyzes documentation files and reports; design improved system and methods of implementation around the application modules
- Understand business work requests and translates them into clear and actionable application directives
- Meet business needs and strategic objectives by managing the activities of Development Programmers and 3rd party vendors consistently delivering quality solutions, on time, within budget and scope of projects
- Partner with internal customers to gather business processes as well as project and development requirements using industry best practices while directing multi-disciplined software teams
- Maintain enterprise application architecture with high-level visual schematic of key systems and business flows
- Actively drives the development life cycle from requirements analysis, feasibility estimates, design, code, documentation, testing, implementation and support
- Support change management processes to manage software releases, application patching and changes to production configurations
- Maintain current knowledge and system functionalities. Actively seeks new advances on the horizon
- Manage multiple tasks and responsibilities in high-pressure environments; excelling at pinpointing and resolving problems in early project stages to avoid cost/time expenses

- Oversee and provide coaching and formal performance management as well as offer feedback and developmental opportunities for team members while keeping current with new and emerging technology related to area of responsibility, participating in continuing education related training to the position.
